Children that is in care with Cherish enrolling into a safe and loving environment. We believe that in those strong foundations of safety and love the child can then have uninterrupted play that is guided but not completely directed by the caregivers .
Cherish childcare, in working with the child’s Family/Whanau, will help prepare the child for his/her future. With this we believe we will provide an environment where communication is open, honest and free from judgement. We cement the foundations for strong social interactions and friendships in this safe and loving environment with not only children but adults as well.
We believe that children in our service should be able to be in an environment guided by their individual needs specific to their own personalities and development that will also empower then as individuals
“I have been using Cherish for the past year and can not fault the care for my daughter. Milly was 9 months when she started with her carer and we have decided to keep her there until she starts school. The variety of socialising and education she receives will prepare her for school. I chose Cherish and Home-based childcare as I wanted the best of smaller and bigger group stimulation. She is with two other children each day which are both older than her but what I also love is that she gets bigger group play every Wednesday at Playgroup which Milly looks forward to every week. The other reason I chose home-based care was due to the flexibility towards our needs ie., sleeps. Milly gets to sleep when she needs it in her own cot and room. I would be more than happy to recommend them.”

What Makes Cherish Childcare Different?
We are Taranaki people wanting to provide Taranaki people a great service. We are open, honest and love connecting with people. Children are the cornerstone to our community as one day they will play an important part in our community and Early Childhood Education is the foundation for this.
All of our In-Home Childcare staff are experienced, trained or are enrolled at an approved childcare and educational course. Our coordinators are qualified teachers who work closely with the team to develop exceptional experiences for your children
As an approved Childcare Ministry of Education organisation, Cherish Childcare utilises the ECE curriculum Te Whariki. This ensures that your children receive a well rounded and proven educational experience
We have an organised Playgroup once a week at the Parents Centre, during which Cherish will provide morning tea for your child and Educator. During this Playgroup we will offer a group time of either music or story time with at least one planned activity that your Educator may not be able to provide in their home. This will be at no extra cost to you. We will have other get togethers at least once a fortnight, these may include the Library, Zoo, Beach, Parks, Walkway, Museum and any places around Taranaki we can access.

Don’t just take our word for it. The independent ERO report acknowledged the hard work that has gone into Cherish Childcare, focusing on positive outcomes for the children that are enrolled with us., whether this be childcare, OSCAR’s or in our holiday programmes. The latest ERO Report acknowledged that “Children participate in an individualised programme that is responsive to their interests. A place-based curriculum is reflected through the playgroup programme, community visits and events. Children experience waiata, stories of the area and celebrate times of significance.”
